നഷ്ട സ്വപ്നം ...
It was on this day she noticed him for the first time. He
looked like Madhavan, the hero of the novel Indhulekha, with a thick moustache.
She understood he was senior to her in college.
She somehow managed to unplug the glance which had locked
each other. Who is that handsome man? That thick moustache man?
Coming to her, except the modesty of a Malayali village
girl, she had nothing to speak of.
There after she would see him daily while coming to college.
Her eyes had searched for him though she tried to control. In the mean time she
gathered information about him from her friend Latha that he was studying in
M.A second year economics, very brilliant and a friend of Supraha’s elder brother
and he is from Varthoor.
Even he collected similar data from his side. His data
collection was more worthful.
“Usha Kumari is her name. She is from Ramanattukara. She has
two sisters. The elder one is the heroine. She is studying in B.A English
Literature final year. She comes to college by 9.30, ladies only bus. There is
no love affair at present. It is yellow flag which is her cast symbol. “
He assumed that she had birth to become his soul mate.
The green flag has been flagged off on both of their mind, but
only in mind. They exchanged the love note through their eyes.. silently...
Now they are almost done with their college life. Their
heart beat had increased. They haven’t yet opened themselves.. The last day in
college , their love extinguished it self as a still born child.
She gave her autograph book to him. He wrote with his
shivering cold hand,
“Wish you
all the best”
Some how she managed her weeping and with tear-filled eyes
she told “Thank You!”.
She longed to hear
him,. But nothing happened. Her heart bleeds. Her repudiated love become a
glowing ember, it set fire on her mind. “The thickness of his moustache is not
in his mind” she chatters to solace herself.
The next day when she was brooding over her love, her bereavement flowed as words and she penned down it in the autograph book just
under his notes ..
“ Oh Love, I failed everywhere…
Permit me to forget all…….
One day, you will remorse to
yourself that you should not have sent me
empty-handed…”
Love --- that is something for the
fools to dream and poet to write!!
I hate everybody …
It was a day dream …
Farewell my dreams…
എന്റെ നഷ്ട സ്വപ്നം .....
n
Usha”
She closed the autograph once and for all. There after her
eyes never search for the thick moustache, it became lifeless..

Ten years have been passed now. Her youthfulness starts
fading…She crossed her fruitful youth; and now she is at 31st step.
She is busy buying cloths from “Nandhitha textiles” for Onam
festival. Suddenly she widely opened her eyes and saw him who had studied M.A
in her college.
Oh! The same moustache man who had stolen my heart…
Except some peeping gray hair he
looks the same old lad. He also happened to see her and went towards her ….. With
his male-spirited voice he asked
“ You , Usha?”
She recovered herself and said “Yes, where are you now?”
He replied “I , I works in Dubai..How are you ? ..“
She replied “I came here with my husband to buy dress. I am
in a hurry now, my husband is waiting for me down ..” . She ran towards the
escalator without completing the conversation…
He looked at that direction with a heavy heart. Nidhy who is
31/2 years old came to him suddenly and asked her father that who was that
aunty. With a fade sigh he replied,
“She is Usha who were in my frozen heart ……A lost dream in
my ambitious mind….”
